Description Marqeaux 2019-08-23 21:59:05 UTC
Description:
I've noticed this on 3 different computers, but all Linux-related (Xubuntu 18.04 LTS and Manjaro 18.0.4, Xfce): When I open a Calc-document (no different if it's an existing document or a new Calc file), and I leave it idle for a couple of minutes, the CPU starts to rise up to 100%. CPU drops to normal again when I close Calc.

This behaviour is seen only in Calc, but not on the other components of LibreOffice. This happens in LibreOffice 6.2.5.2 and LibreOffice 6.3.0.2, both on x86 and x86_64 machines. OpenGL is disabled.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start LibreOffice Calc
2. Open or create a Calc document
3. Leave it idle for a couple of minutes

Actual Results:
CPU starts to rise to 100% and the computer heats up.

Expected Results:
Basically nothing particular...

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

On request of Roman Kuznetsov, I added a screenshot from the "Help" -> "About" dialog. This info applies to one of the machines where LibreOffice behaves the way I described.

Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ?
I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to
'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version.

On the same computers where I encountered this problem I tried to reproduce my earlier reported behaviour of LibreOffice. I just installed LibreOffice 6.3.4.2, opened a new Calc document and left the computer idle for at least ten minutes. I can't reproduce this behaviour anymore with LibreOffice 6.3.4.2, so I guess this issue is gone.

If there are others that encounter this psecific problem, please report it. As far as I'm concerned I can say this issue is solved in earlier mentioned version of LibreOffice.

As there is not a specific patch resolving the issue, changed resolution type from fixed to worksforme.
