Description sonajaqufe 2014-09-11 09:45:54 UTC
Hello!

Answering is only possible to a comment made by another (or anonymous) author. Both Google Docs and Microsoft Office allow this. Being able to add answers to own comments can be helpful, for example in the illustration and recoding of thought processes, chains of arguments etc.

In LibreOffice, simply editing a comment and adding the new info (optionally removing the old) is not always helpful. For example, the new time-stamp isn't added and additions are not visually distinct. Implementing the possibility of answering own comments would IMHO make the comment system more useful.

Thank you :-)

PS: Based on experience with v4.3.0.4 only, but since no mention of "comments" is made in https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/4.3 I assume this request is still valid.

I agree. Having the possibility to answer his own comments, will allow to keep the date and time of your different answers. It is not currently possible because you can only modify your own comments.

Valid enhancement, set status to NEW.

Best regards. JBF

Replying to your own comments works now, I don't have time to find out the commit that made it work. Apparently there were some changes in 2019 that enabled it and disabled it and later it got enabled again.
