Description Emir Sarı 2013-10-28 11:23:00 UTC
Currently in the language selection menu language entries disappear after a certain amount of time (Tools - Language - For all text, paragraph, selection etc. - or right click on the status bar).

For example, after using three languages, after quitting LibreOffice only default language remains.

It would be better to show the last three used languages always (maybe more), and have them replace only if more languages are used.

Seems like a viable enhancement to me.
Comment 2 Thomas Lendo 2019-06-17 09:53:40 UTC
Adding needsUXEval to bring it back into the spotlight of attention or to close it.

Personally I don't know if this is a real matter for many users. On the other side if you change between a handful languages in one or more documents it would be great to have a better proposal in the lists so that users have to do as few clicks as possible to make LibreOffice to fit their needs.

Maybe WFM in LO 7.5.2

But disagree that bug 136463 is a duplicate.
The OP in bug 70953 requests keeping the "last-used" languages available.
Bug 136463 requests being able to easily specify which languages should be kept available (which would be useful imo).

Wonder if the menu lists a) the languages used in the document or b) what has been used in the current session. The first makes more sense and speaks against remembering the last used languages. In case of b) we could indeed have some persistence.

Checking with v7.3 it seems to be a fact, resolving WFM. Please reopen in case this is wrong.
Comment 6 Mike Kaganski 2022-08-23 08:41:51 UTC
IIUC, the menu does not list last used languages, or even languages used in the document. Instead, it lists some *guessed* languages, that *might* fit one's needs in a specific text, but generally would often create surprise. See bug 139185 comment 4 (and generally that issue).

a) doesn't make sense at all when creating a new document. In fact, it is a huge nuisance.
