When you protect a sheet the user can't change the width and the eight of the cells. In my opinion the sheet protection would be concern only to cell content not to the layout of the sheet. 

Any way I would like to ask you if it is possible to add in the dialog for protecting the sheet (Tools->Protect Document->Sheet) two more options:

- Change the width of columns
- Change the height of rows

after (or before) the two options already present:

- Select protected cells
- Select unprotected cells

I have changed the status again in new: why you changed it in unconfirmed? Do you mean that you can change column or row dimension in a protect sheet?

Hi Paviul,
No, I haven't tested it. I changed it because a bug normally starts as "UNCONFIRMED". It's later changed to "NEW" when someone tests it (with the current master code branch) and confirms it (usually the members of the QA team). They check the "UNCONFIRMED" bugs and request for missing information, etc. (Like, e.g, the copy-paste of the content of the menu Help -> About Libreoffice.) Or, if it's not a bug, the may point out what's wrong with the reported use case.

Like MSExcel, normally if you want to protect a sheet you want to protect the content of a sheet not the layout... any way in my opinion if a user can choose to protect only the content or the layout too it's the better way!

A valid request in general. Excel has a more fine grained protection mechanism. There, if "Format columns" is allowed the column width can be changed as well, likewise with "Format rows" the row height. However, Calc doesn't have this granularity yet.

this feature needs to be implemented. i would add, how about allowing a protected cell to overflow with a setting so that it does not cause the XXXXXXXXX which then requires to type in the password, resize the column and save it again.
