Description alexfofo 2018-02-20 16:54:31 UTC
When a comment is add to a cell, it would be very convenient to be able to choose the color of his indication (in the options of a comment - when right clic on comment)
[i don't speak about the background commment but his little dot indicator upper right side of the cell]

This small dot/square is red and the problem is that it becomes almost invisible if the background color of this cell is red too ... and the very purpose of the existence of this color mark is to be clearly visible for mean the presence of a comment ...

To rephrase: The comment indicator is hardly recognizable for cells with red background, for instance in case of conditional formatting with color scale.

The triangle has a white border so it's not such a big issue. Also, I'd prefer fix colors rather than any manual selection (would be nasty to define it for every comment) or some automatic inverted color. The actual problem is that color must not be used as primary indicator and the better solution would have been an icon. My take is WONTFIX.

The workaround is to activate comments per View > Comments (admittedly not working in all cases).

We already have "Options - Application Colors" where the user can change a lot of different colors for various things. I wonder if rather than allowing of hard-coding of the colors, and WONTFIXING such request, we should make a rule that if the color is not taken from the system theme, it must be defined there (for anything that is UI and not part of the document).

Why and when should that be convenient? I'm not convinced at the moment :)

If it's technically possible, why not doing so (therefore: +1 from me for this enhancement request despite that I'm not convinced how it works today).

for me, it's good ...
I do not care to choose ... just that the color of the indicator can not be the same as that of the background...

We talked about Tomaz suggestion in comment 2 in the design meeting that such customization via Tools > Options > Application Colors would be possible and easy to do, and agree on it.
